Titled simply Divinity, the game was debuted with a daring trailer that included striking imagery, from a figure engulfed in flames to scenes of revelry and the very descent into chaos.

For those anticipating Divinity Original Sin 3, that is not happening. Larian clarified that a follow-up to its beloved RPGs is not currently in development.

What Makes Divinity Special

The Divinity series is highly rated and many say it pioneered the modern wave of crunchy computer role-playing games. These games are defined by intricate stories, player agency, and deep class systems—traits that recently were perfected in games like Baldur's Gate 3.

While its setting is familiar fare, what truly sets Divinity apart is the unprecedented level of trust bestowed upon the player.

In contrast to modern RPGs have pared back options, Divinity is full of specialized paths you can achieve if you're playing as a distinct build with a specific history of choices.

The series is also wonderfully open-ended, letting players to experiment both in story and combat. Virtually all objectives can be completed in multiple ways, frequently in unexpected fashion.

  • You might solve a puzzle because you remembered something a non-human character said.
  • Or, you could bypass a challenge by teleporting a glob of lava in a clever way.

The Journey Continues

It is precisely these elements that allow people to label games like Divinity Original Sin 2 as a top-tier role-playing games ever made. Now, fans can look forward to another adventure in this esteemed franchise.
